Parents often have a tendency to blame children for their failings - little realizing that their own role in their personality development is of much greater significance than their of springs. Parents need to look with in to see how they can be model parents and provide a healthy environment for proper mental, emotional and physical growth of their children.
Faulty parent child relationship can have some of the following effects:

Overprotection and Domination: It may cause submissiveness, lack of                                                 self reliance and low self evaluation.

Rejection:  It may cause  feelings of anxiety,  insecurity, loneliness  and                  jealousy.

Undesirable Parental Models: It may cause learning of faulty values and                                            development of maladaptive patterns.

Over permissiveness and Over indulgence: Selfishness, demanding                                                                attitude,lack of responsibility
                                                               etc.

Unrealistic Demands: Lack of spontaneity, tendency toward guilt.

Faulty Discipline: It may cause fear, hatred of parents, aggressiveness                           and lack of friendly feelings.

Communication Failure: It may cause lack of an integrated frame of                                     reference, lack of initiative and self devaluation.
